BCAAA Initiatives to Support The Academies

The BCA Alumni Association (BCAAA) has funded many endeavors over the past few years, and will continue to fund more projects with more donations. There are four main categories that alumni can currently contribute to.

When you donate, you can specify which area you would like to support. Please email us if you would like to create a Senior Award named after someone. When you donate, you can also specify “General Fund,” and we will allocate the funds to the areas that need them most urgently.

BCA Global

For many years, alumni have funded BCA Global trips for students who are not able to afford them. BCA Global trips are a (relatively) new initiative — trips that every junior at BCA can choose to take. These trips are self-funded, costing $2,500 per student. For about 4% of the grade (approximately 10 students), the cost prohibits students from going. BCA cannot use many of the grants they are given to fund students’ trips. The BCA Alumni Association is proud to fund as many students as we can.

Annual Senior Awards

During senior year for BCA students, there is a Senior Award Ceremony, with awards for everything from biotech research to debate team and history.

Each award is $250 per student, and many are funded by alumni in honor of or in memoriam of someone.

If you are interested in sponsoring an award, please email us at hello@bcaalumni.org.

In order to sponsor an award, the award must exist for five years x $250 = $1,250.

Research Labs

From 2018 through now (2025), BCA alumni have helped fund the development of a hydroponics lab, aquaponics lab, coral reef lab, and mechatronics lab.

Individual research is now a big part of the student experience at BCA. Many students have their own research projects, and some have even been published in peer-reviewed journals before high school graduation.

In 2026 (the current school year), BCA students have made it to the national and international levels of many competitions.

Many students are able to fund their own trip, but there are students who give up their spots because they cannot afford the trips.

Two students qualified for the U.S. Olympiad in 2025 and could not attend due to financial constraints.

BCAAA also funds Student Competitions so that students can compete in events they have worked so hard to be a part of.
